What kind of Reared in a 1968 Pontiac Tempest?

I have a 1968 pontiac Tempest 350 Custom. I recently blew a bearing in my rear end and need to buy a replacement axle, I don't know what kind I need though. People keep asking if it's a 10 bolt, and I don't know what that means. Any help would be appreciated.

If the rear end is factory and not a modification, it should be a 10-bolt. Only 455s came with 12-bolts.

Basically, look at the differential cover and count the number of bolts...er, screws.
